U of M band director works with LMPS students

Concert Band students at LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) participated in a Band Workshop yesterday (11.16.18) conducted by Dr. Albert Nguyen, director of bands at the University of Memphis.

This is the third such program for band students in the 15 months the middle school has been open.  Anneliese Land, LMPS band director, said there was a Fall Band Workshop a year ago, a Symphonic Band Camp in April and the workshop this week.  The school serving grades 5-8 opened in August 2017.

She expects to have Symphonic Band Camp in March and a potential third clinician in early April.

“My goal is to bring as many great clinicians in to work with the students as is feasible. It is a great opportunity for the students to work with clinicians from across the country, who all bring unique perspectives and decades of experience to our growing program. This helps show the students that the band world is much larger than just our band room, and that they belong in that world,” said Mrs. Land.
