After winning the TSA State On Demand Video competition this spring, the Lakeland Prep team of 6 Media Lab students were invited to participate in the TSA (Technology Student Association) National Conference in Nashville.
The rules for the National event were the same as they were for the Regional and State competitions. Students had 36 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film (less than one minute) based on surprise criteria. They put in a solid 24 hours of work in a 30-hour period, submitting with a few hours to spare.
The video they created this time was earnest and sincere, showcasing their creativity versatility when compared to their State-Winning satire. Stark contrast in tones, but no diminution of quality.
They competed against 160 schools, and their efforts officially placed them at 7th in the nation. Mr Luno, who leads the team said, “Frankly, we all agree that with minor tweaks to this year’s finished product, the team could have placed even higher. That’s the blessing of competition, you really see what you’re up against, both externally and internally. In other words, we have a much better sense of what it takes to excel in this competition, and we’re eager to see what we can do next year.”
Congratulations to the following students who made up the LPS team: Dylan Biblioni, Ashleigh Anne Burnett, Aiden Helton, Cullen Hutchens, Eli Meneses, and Luke Normand.
