Thursday is shaping up to be a perfect Fun Run Day at Lakeland Elementary School. Temperatures are expected to be in the 60s and 70s with no chance of precipitation. This will be the 14th year for LES to participate in this fundraising endeavor. It has helped provide funding for projects at LES and this year the goals include a Book Vending Machine, Interactive Gym Floor, Entryway School Signage, and Field Trips. Over 14 years the Boosterthon (Fun Run) has raised funds and contributed $435,590 toward LES projects and efforts.
The goal this year is to hopefully pass $500k of school profit for the PTA. Of that money, less than one-third of the total money comes from school parents. Over 2,900 people made a pledge last year from forty-five different states. Every student gets to participate in the fun run for free and being involved is a highlight of the year for the young students.
