Over 400 students from 4th grade through high school bring this year’s Bellevue Singing Christmas Tree to life, including multiple performers from Lakeland Prep and other local schools. The production features 20 drama cast members, 50 musicians in the orchestra, 100 on-stage characters, and more than 500 behind-the-scenes volunteers. Now in its 49th year, the Singing Christmas Tree remains one of the Mid-South’s most cherished holiday traditions.

This year’s story unfolds in Merryvale, a charming small town preparing for a feature in the national magazine Life in Town. As the editor and her daughter arrive, the community buzzes with excitement—though Harper, the daughter, resists every attempt to welcome her. Comedic tension builds between two business owners competing for a $5,000 “Holiday Spirit” prize, while deeper emotional themes develop through Rose, a kindhearted girl who tries to befriend Harper, and Louella, a town employee struggling with guilt from her past. Their stories intertwine through humor, conflict, and heartfelt moments of compassion.

As Christmas nears, Merryvale begins to heal: friendships mend, hearts soften, and long-buried wounds are met with grace. Following a powerful moment of reconciliation, the pastor steps in to guide the audience toward the true message of Christmas before the musical finale begins. The show culminates in a joyful celebration inside the iconic Singing Christmas Tree, reminding audiences that small acts of love can bring redemption, restoration, and renewed hope to a community.

Performances begin on Thursday, December 11, more information can be found here.
