Lakeland Commissioner Clark Plunk told Lakeland Currents he has filed charges against Mayor Wyatt Bunker.

“I have filed work place Harassment charges against the mayor and Jim Atkinson (City Manager) and Chris Patterson (City Attorney) have copies of my charges,” he said.

He added he is “Also filing with Americans with Disabilities (Americans with Disabilities Act – ADA) and EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission).”

Commissioner Plunk said that people in attendance at recent BOC (Board of Commissioners) meetings have witnessed outrageous behavior.  “You’ve been at the meetings and have seen his outrageous behavior and he also attacked me on his personal website which I understand is he has taken down.”

“The source of his irritation is his removal as MPC (Municipal Planning Commission) liaison. Our Board of Commissioners has traditionally rotated liaison assignments every 2 years.

“Commissioner Plunk served over four years as the liaison to the MPC/DRC (Design Review Commission) so the Board unanimously decided it was time to rotate the assignment.

“I’m disappointed with his antics, but we appreciate the time he’s served in that capacity.”

The Mayor said elected officials are exempt from EEOC coverage.   He cited Section 701(f) of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972.

The charges filed by Commissioner Plunk stem from two recent BOC meetings with discussion on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19 budget and BOC members’ attendance at meetings.
