Improved Trash Pickup But City Manager Issues Warning On Street Items

Residents of Lakeland have noticed a significant improvement in trash pickup services over the last few months. However, City Manager Michael Walker has issued a warning regarding items left in or near the street.

Following the absence of leaf vacuuming services this fall, which caused some confusion, and a brief hiccup in regular trash pickup during the holidays, Walker assures that these issues are now a thing of the past. However, he emphasizes the need for residents to be mindful of what they leave on the street. “There have been instances where items not intended for bulk waste pickup, such as a basketball goal, were mistakenly collected,” Mr. Walker said in an online post. Walker reminds residents that any items left in the City’s right of way will be collected as bulk waste, and the City is not responsible for accidental removal or replacement costs.

Residents are encouraged to visit the City of Lakeland website for more details on bulk waste pickup guidelines.
