Early morning storms impact Lakeland

Lakeland woke up to tornado warnings at approximately 6:10 a.m. this morning (10.21.19). A tornado was not spotted in Lakeland but severe weather did impact the area.

According to City Engineer Emily Harrell, “We had two trees down on Salem and a large limb on Fletchers Trace. All have been cleared. North Lakeland (also) had power outages.  I am not sure if power has been restored, but will find out. No other damage was reported to me in Lakeland.” Lakeland crews worked quickly to clear the streets so traffic could flow.

MLGW reported approximately 43,000 MLGW customers in Shelby County lost power, including some in North Lakeland, but they expected power to be restored to customers very shortly.
