According to LPS teacher and assistant track coach Jenny Kiesel, the Lakeland Prep track team has demonstrated significant progress this spring. According to Coach Kiesel the Lions have achieved notable milestones, including hosting the school’s first high school meet as well as hosting sectionals. The sectional meet, which was held this week on the Lakeland Prep campus, hosted 46 area schools competing to advance to the state championships held in Murfreesboro.

Hosting the sectional meet, and having athletes participate in it, marked a significant achievement for the new school according to Coach Kiesel which competed with only freshman and sophomores this season. A junior class will be added in the upcoming school year which will help provide even more depth for next year’s cross country and track seasons.

Several Lakeland Prep track athletes excelled this spring and multiple athletes qualified for sectionals this year, showcasing the team’s talent and dedication.

The following students qualified for sectionals this spring:
Elizabeth Foster
Abby Stevens
Kylie Davis
Addie Beth Johnson
Jenna Cowell
Sophia Pater
Eliana Kennedy
Emily Acton
Dylan Bibiloni
Colten Kirby
Jack Gatewood

Coach Kiesel told Lakeland Currents the Lakeland Prep community is proud of the team’s accomplishments and looks forward to their continued success on the track.
