Zadie Kuehl Park Sees Big Upgrade

Commissioner Michelle Dial announced Tuesday evening (December 1) that Zadie Kuehl park is now back open to the public. Commissioner Dial met with the parks and recreation board Tuesday evening to see all the new equipment recently installed.  The park is located at 3065 Yukon Drive and can be accessed thru the Canada Woods subdivision off Canada Rd.

“It’s so exciting to see this project nearing completion; it’s been years in the making!” said Ms. Dial.

The new playground equipment is a nice upgrade and it includes multiple types of equipment to play on from a variety of slides to multiple swings. Another nice feature is the synthetic turf surrounding all the new equipment. The turf not only looks good but it will help keep the park much cleaner.

Commissioner Dial said everyone on the board is pleased and excited for Lakeland families to enjoy over the coming years. “The inclusive playground will bring much happiness and many hours of joy! We, the P&R board, considered a wide variety of equipment and finishing touches. We are extremely pleased with the results.”

The parks and recreation board hopes to have an official celebration of the park in the spring.

Dog Park

Lakeland is also working on a new dog park located between Zadie Kuehl park and the Lakeland Pet Hospital (located on Canada Rd). A path will allow residents to walk between both parks. Crews have been working on a small parking lot and a road that will lead into the park itself.

Commissioner Dial said they had hoped to open the dog park, along with the new Zadie Kuehl park, at the same time but manufacturing delays have put the dog park slightly behind. She expects the road work and the lighting to be complete in the coming weeks.
