Youth Soccer Returns To Lakeland

After some time away, youth recreational soccer is finally back in Lakeland. The program, which will be operated by the Tennessee Soccer Academy, will pull from that organizations experience operating Arlington Soccer Academy (ASA). The Tennessee Soccer Academy will now operate both Lakeland and Arlington soccer programs.

According to Pat O’Mara, Director of Parks and Recreation for Lakeland, the Board of Commissioners approved an agreement in November 2021 with the Tennessee Soccer Academy. “Tennessee Soccer Academy has a strong history of developing local players and has successfully trained players who are ranked regionally,” said Mr. O’Mara. Adding, “the program is taking registration now and will begin in March.”

Previously, Lakeland soccer was limited in growth due to a lack of field space. That problem no longer exists with games and practices being held at the Lakeland Prep Athletic Annex on Old Brownsville Rd. That facility includes five lighted fields along with restroom and concession stand facilities.
