Will there be any LAMP concerts this year?

What’s quickly become a summer tradition around Lakeland, some residents are asking will there be any LAMP concerts this year at the IH amphitheater?

For the past several years there’s been a monthly free concert held in the summer months at International Harvester Clubhouse on Canada Road. Large crowds have grown accustom to bringing a chair or a blanket, enjoying local concessions and relaxing the night away listening to a variety of different acts. Unfortunately, those warm evenings have not been part of the Lakeland landscape this summer due to COVID-19.

Commissioner Michele Dial

Concerts were originally planned thru September so is there a chance one or two concerts will remain? It’s complicated says Commissioner Michelle Dial. Ms. Dial serves as the BOC liaison to the parks and recreation department and the concert series was discussed at the most recent parks and recreation board meeting held in July. When reached for comment Ms. Dial said, “We are holding out hope that our September event with The Dantone’s will be able to happen. However, we would have to be in Phase 3 and submit a plan to the SCHD (Shelby County Health Department) for approval.  We can submit a plan even if we aren’t in Phase 3, but it would be less likely to be approved.” She continued by saying ,”The Parks Board has been thinking out-of-the-box for some creative ways to utilize our LAMP venue, when we are able to gather again, while putting in place the necessary precautions.”
