The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has officially begun construction on a new District 4 Headquarters in Lakeland, marking a significant development for public safety infrastructure in the region.
Located directly off Highway 64 behind the Sonic Drive-In, the new facility will encompass 23,233 square feet and comes with a construction value of $10,750,000. Renderings of the state-of-the-art headquarters reflect a modern design tailored to meet the operational needs of THP in this growing part of West Tennessee. Renaissance Group, a Lakeland based compnay, is handling the project on behalf of the highway patrol.
Construction officially began with a Notice to Proceed issued on June 9, 2025 and equipment is already on site. The project is scheduled for completion by September 2, 2026.

While the City of Lakeland is not financially contributing to the project or its ongoing operations, local officials have expressed enthusiasm about THP’s expanded presence in the community.
“Mayor Roman is attempting to schedule a meeting with the Tennessee Highway Patrol to formally welcome them and assist with any of their needs,” said City Manager Michael Walker.
The new headquarters is expected to enhance the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s ability to serve District 4 and improve public safety response throughout the surrounding area.
