Residential Loose Leaf Collection Schedule For 2021-22

The City of Lakeland’s loose leaf collection program will officially begin on November 2nd and will continue through February 28th.  Residents should have received a postcard in the mail with the schedule, but if you didn’t, be sure to bookmark this page so you can refer back throughout the season.

The service is meant for Lakeland residents who do their own yard work. The equipment used is outfitted with a large vacuum which sucks the leaves into large boxes mounted on the trailers behind a truck.

How Does It Work?

According to city officials, residents must place loose leaf piles at the edge of their yard close enough to the street that the vacuum equipment can reach them (typically the area between the curb and sidewalk). Leaf piles can be no more than six feet from the edge of the curb for crews to collect for the equipment to reach them. The city pointed out it’s important not to rake or blow leaves into the street as they present a safety hazard and a
flooding concern when leaves are washed into storm drains.

Different areas of town will have their leaves collected on a pre-determined basis throughout the winter.
