Remember –There is still time to complete the Census 2020 survey

The City of Lakeland reminds residents to complete the Census 2020 survey.

“We need your help.  A few moments of your time will help the City of Lakeland financially,” said Shane Horn, Lakeland city manager.  “Please take time to complete the questionnaire.”

As of 4.24.20, the national self-response rate for completion of the survey is 52.8%;  for Tennessee, the response rate is 52.0%; Shelby County rate is 50.7%; and Lakeland is 67.2%.

The country has reached an important milestone in the 2020 Census. More than half of all of the households in the country have responded – that’s 77,500,000 households so far!

Respond online, over the phone or by mail.

Invitations to respond to the 2020 Census were delivered last month. About 64 million households across the nation were recently sent a paper questionnaire and reminder postcards will be sent next week.

You can respond online in one of 13 languages and find assistance in many more.

The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities every year for the next decade. That funding shapes many different aspects of every community, no matter the size, no matter the location.  It will determine congressional representation, where communities need new schools, new clinics, new roads, and more services for families, older adults, and children.
