Lakeland School System Awarded $50,000 State Grant

Grant will be used to Boost Career and Technical Education.

The Lakeland School System has been awarded a $50,000 Perkins Reserve Grant by the Tennessee Department of Education for the 2025–26 school year, one of only 55 school districts across the state to receive this highly competitive funding.

Of the five districts selected in the Southwest region, Lakeland stood out for its commitment to enhancing Career and Technical Education (CTE). The grant will be used to invest in hardware, software, and other resources aimed at supporting students’ pursuit of industry certifications and expanding access to hands-on, career-focused learning opportunities.

The district credited Director of Strategic Programs Tammy Wilson for leading the successful grant application process. The grant is a tremendous asset for the LSS CTE programs and will help ensure that Lakeland students are prepared for success beyond the classroom the school system said in a statement.
