State Representative Tom Leatherwood easily defeated Lee Mills today (August 6, 2020) in the District 99 State House Republican party primary. Leatherwood garnered nearly 67% of the vote compared to Mills’ 32%. Rep. Leatherwood will now run in the general election on November 3 to retain his seat to represent Lakeland in Nashville. It’s expected he will run unopposed in the general election.
State Senator Paul Rose also easily defeated his opponent, Scott Throckmorton, by garnering 76% of the vote in the District 32 race. District 32 represents Fayette County and parts of Shelby County including Lakeland. It’s expected Mr. Rose will also run unopposed in the general election this fall.
