AT&T Extends Service in Lakeland

AT&T

AT&T is now offering a 1 gigabit connection on their 100 percent fiber network to  more customers in the Lakeland area than earlier this year.

Cathy Lewandowski, senior public relations manager for Tennessee and Kentucky and global media relations, said, “We began making our 100% fiber network available to a limited number of homes and small businesses in Lakeland beginning last year.

“These potential customers were contacted directly about their eligibility for the service.  We made the recent announcement in Lakeland last week because the service is now available to a substantial number of residents and small businesses in the area.”

When asked if the North Lakeland or Monroe Road areas of the City were on the radar screen for the utility, Ms. Lewandowski said, “We work hard to offer our fastest internet to as many communities as possible. We start building this service in areas within our local service territory where we have existing network facilities.”

Chuck Thomas, regional director, AT&T Tennessee, said, “Our customers are increasingly interacting with their world in more data-intensive ways.  A growing number of people are streaming content directly from their devices, and interacting with family and friends through live videos. For these reasons, we’re continuing to expand the availability of our fastest internet speeds to more Memphis area communities.

Mr. Thomas said AT&T internet 1000 is the fastest internet speed tier on their 100 percent fiber network.  “It is $70 per month for customers who bundle with another AT&T service on a single bill or $80 per month standalone.  Either way, there are no extra monthly fees and equipment is included with a 12-month agreement.”

Customers are also able to add DRECTV or U-verse TV service with single, double and triple play offers to fit each customer’s needs.

A 1 gig connection can download 25 songs in one second or a 90-minute HD movie in less than 34 seconds.

Mrs. Lewandowski added, “AT&T has invested more than $225 million in its wireless and wireline networks in Memphis between 2014 through 2016. This drives upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.
