Lakeland Prep Soccer: A Breakout Season and Bright Future Ahead

Lakeland Prep Boys Soccer wrapped up the 2025 season with a historic run, finishing with an impressive 19-3-2 record and capturing District, Regional, and Sectional Championships before reaching the State Quarterfinals—all without a single senior on the roster.

From the outset, Head Coach Jay Fausey and his staff challenged the team to push their limits, and the players responded with unwavering effort and commitment. “We knew early on we had something special,” said Fausey. “When everything clicked, we believed we could go toe-to-toe with anyone in the state—and we did.”

Throughout the season, the team notched key victories over top-tier opponents, including Millington (2-0) and MBA (5-4 in PKs)—both state semifinalists—alongside wins over Brighton, Crosstown, Milan, and Sheffield. Even in narrow losses and hard-fought ties, Lakeland Prep proved they belonged among Tennessee’s elite.

The numbers tell the story: 107 goals scored and just 13 allowed, highlighting a dominant performance on both ends of the pitch. Standout players earned well-deserved accolades, including multiple All-Metro and All-Regional selections, with Luke Baldridge, Adam Atkinson, Eli Coleman, and Tony Trejo leading the charge. Coach Fausey was also honored as the Daily Memphian’s Coach of the Year, a testament to his leadership and the team’s success.

As one of the youngest teams in the state, Lakeland Prep’s performance this season signals a powerful shift in the program’s trajectory. With no seniors graduating, the foundation is firmly in place for another deep postseason run in 2025. “This is only the beginning,” said Fausey. “We’re proud of what we accomplished—and even more excited about where we’re headed.”
