Local Cop Stop Seeks Volunteers for Dec. 22

A Lakeland resident is organizing a Cop Stop next week for deputies at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Arlington.

Joe Chittick is the coordinator for Arlington/Lakeland Cop Stops and has planned the event for Dec. 22.

This is the second such event at the Arlington SCSO and there will be six shifts: two each for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

He didn’t provide precise serving times but said breakfast will be early, lunch mid-afternoon and dinner late evening.

Each meal will serve about 40 officers and support staff.

To volunteer to serve or cook for the event, contact Mr. Chittick at joechittick@gmail.com

Cop Stop was started in 2014 by a woman in Germantown who wanted a way to get to know local officers and allow them to have a home-cooked meal in a relaxed setting. There are now Cop Stop programs across West Tennessee as well as South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, Virginia and Texas.
