On Saturday (Oct. 4), a group of dads gathered on the Lakeland Elementary School campus to pressure wash the retaining wall and sidewalk that lines the drive into the school parking lot. It’s believed that this is the first time the wall has ever been cleaned since the school was built 20 years ago.
Armed with pressure washers, the 15-20 volunteers got to work around noon. There was a tent set up with snacks, drinks, a heater and even a TV so they could watch college football! Shoutout to Nutrition Spot for donating hot teas to the guys to help warm them up. Also seen helping at the event were Commissioner Wesley Wright and candidate for Commissioner Jim Atkinson, both are fathers to current and former LES students.
The Lion Guard, formerly known as Watchdog Dads, is a group of dads who volunteer their time for various events and activities around LES, along with providing a positive role model to students. The group is open to fathers, grandfathers, Step-fathers, uncles and other “father figures” of LES students. You can ask to join their Facebook page HERE or email them HERE.
