Demolition starts next Wednesday (10.25.17) on the former Factory Outlet Mall Annex on the southeast corner of I-40 and Canada Road.

According to Maggie Gallagher, director of development for Gilad Development Inc, the highly anticipated project will be at 1:30 p.m. at 3536 Canada Road.  The “tear down” is hosted by Ms. Gallagher and Yehuda Netanel, developer of The Lake District (TLD) which is to replace the annex and former Factory Outlet Mall.

Mr. Netanel has until April 2018 to demolish all buildings on the mall site to make way for his new mixed-used development.

“It’s time for a kickoff,” said Mr. Netanel.  “The demolition is a major step forward to making our vision of The Lake District a reality.  We can’t wait to see you there.”

Shawn Massey with The Shopping Center Group is recruiting tenants for TLD and will be the guest speaker at the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce luncheon at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 25.  The demo will follow the luncheon, said Ms. Gallagher.

The Lake District is an upscale 160+ acre mixed-use community surrounding a 10-acre lake and waterways.

Designed as an Urban Village, TLD is a walkable community with water features, tree-lined parks, with varying facades and roof lines, according to Ms. Gallagher.  “Special attention is given to public spaces while parking structures eliminate extensive surface parking. Every detail combines to create a village with urban amenities and a vibrant street life,” she added.
