Lakeland Currents – Readership continues to grow for the online news site

Readership of Lakeland Currents, the news website for the Lakeland community, continued to grow in 2019 with 65K+ readers and 254+K page views.

According to Google Analytics, the site drew 65,565 readers with 254,450 page views and 174,409 sessions.  That compares to 58,335 readers for 2018 with 222,941 page views and 152,172 sessions.

Readers of the site came from all over Shelby County plus Nashville, Atlanta and Chicago.

The online site had its beginnings in 1998.   A volunteer staff in Lakeland produced a quarterly hardcopy publication called Citywatch which was delivered to residents and businesses via bulk snail mail.   In December 2016, the publication cut the printing and circulation ties and now the news is brought to you only in a digital format with the internet and social media:  www.lakelandcurrents.com and the LC Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LakelandCurrents/?fref=ts

Today the site brings to the Lakeland community and beyond “current” news and features from Lakeland as well as news from Shelby County and Tennessee. Volunteers continue to contribute stories and photos to share the good, and maybe the sad, news of the surrounding area.

Besides the editorial content, photos and videos, there are advertisers on the pages with hot links on each ad to their news or specials.

You can count on Lakeland Currents to deliver the latest news to the great City of Lakeland with its volunteer reporters and photographers.
