The beautiful new entrance signs, located off both I-40 exits onto Canada Road, are starting to come together. The signs, which are made of limestone and field stone, match multiple other Lakeland signs that already exist in other parts of the city.
According to Commissioner Wesley Wright, the landscaping around the signs have beds with bushes and trees located behind the signs. He said he would like to see zoysia grass, as opposed to the existing bermuda grass that surrounds the landscaping, at some point in the future. The signs will also have iron lanterns on the front which will provide light at night.
The signs were built with 80% grant money, with the remaining 20% paid from city funds.
