Emergency Declaration renewed, some venues in Lakeland remain closed

The Declaration of Emergency for Lakeland has been renewed until June 12th, according to Shane Horn, city manager.

Mr. Horn said playgrounds are closed and the IH Clubhouse is unavailable for rentals and events until further notice.  The City Hall lobby is open to the public.

Next week, Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris, Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland and the Shelby County Health Department will evaluate trends before announcing Phase III of the Back-to-Business Format.  Currently the all of Shelby County is in Phase II which was announced May 18th and set to last at least three weeks, to June 8th.

Monday (6.8.20) the Lakeland Senior Center will start a gradual reopening with limited programs and pre-registration for events.
