Daily report – COVID – 7.9.20: 208 deaths in Shelby, 710 statewide

Statistics released today (7.9.20) for COVID-19 by the Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) include: 12,773 confirmed and probable cases (+306 newly confirmed today); 8,237 recovered (64.5%); 4,328 current (33.9%); and 208 deceased (1.6%). There have been 147,722 total tested in Shelby County, 93.3% negative, 6.7% positive.

The percent of overall testing positivity rate in Shelby is 8.6, the weekly rate is 12.4.   Among nursing homes and facilities which serve vulnerable populations, there have been 69 deaths.  Within Shelby County Division of Corrections, there have been no deaths and one death (employee) at the Shelby County Jail, 201 Poplar Ave.  This information is from Joan Carr, public information officer for the SCHD.

Here is information about clusters considered to be resolved. A cluster is considered resolved once a facility has gone 28 days without a new case.
