Statistics released today (7.2.20.20) for COVID-19 by the Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) include: 10,602 confirmed and probable cases (+394 newly confirmed): 6,970 recovered (65.7%); 3,440 current (32.4%); and 192 deceased, no increase from yesterday (1.8%). There have been 131,996 total tested in Shelby County, 92% negative, 8% positive. The percent of overall testing positivity rate in Shelby is 8.

Among nursing homes and facilities which serve vulnerable populations, there have been 66 deaths, no change from yesterday. There have been no deaths reported from the Shelby County Division of Corrections and one employee death at the Shelby County Jail/201 Poplar Ave.

In his COVID-19 update yesterday (7.1.20) Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said, “Recently, I mentioned how much testing Tennessee and Shelby County are doing relative to other parts of the country. As you can see in the chart below, we’ve performed close to 130,000 tests through June, and we’re going to do even more.”
