The Lakeland Arts Council has announced Ella York as its 2026 Featured Artist, recognizing the young artist’s creativity, dedication, and growing accomplishments in the visual arts.
A rising sophomore at Lakeland Preparatory School, York has cultivated a passion for artistic expression through both classroom instruction and personal exploration of a variety of creative mediums. Although she enjoys experimenting with different forms of art, painting has become her primary focus, with watercolor emerging as a favorite medium.
York credits her art classes at Lakeland Preparatory School with helping her strengthen her technical skills while encouraging her to develop her own artistic style. She says creating art has become one of her favorite ways to express ideas, embrace creativity, and challenge herself through new techniques.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, York enjoys playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, and operating her small business, Ellagance by Ella.
The Lakeland Arts Council said York’s passion, creativity, and commitment to her craft made her a standout choice for the 2026 honor. As Featured Artist, she will showcase her work throughout the year while serving as an ambassador for Lakeland’s growing arts community and inspiring others to pursue their own creative interests.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my work with others and represent my city,” York said.
The annual Featured Artist recognition celebrates emerging local talent and reflects the Lakeland Arts Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting artists while fostering appreciation for the arts throughout the community.
