Lakeland Preparatory School will host its annual Visual Art Show on April 7 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the school’s high school lobby, offering the community an opportunity to experience the creativity and artistic achievements of its students.
The event will feature artwork created by students in grades five through twelve, highlighting a wide range of artistic styles and mediums developed through the school’s growing visual arts program. Held in conjunction with Rising 6th Grade Night, the exhibition provides visiting families and community members a chance to see the impressive work being produced by Lakeland Prep’s young artists.
Guests attending the event will be invited to browse the student gallery while enjoying light refreshments. Several awards will be presented during the evening, including a People’s Choice Award that allows attendees to vote for their favorite piece on display.
In addition to celebrating current student artwork, the show will also preview an exciting opportunity for Lakeland Prep’s art students. The school has been invited to create a major art installation at the Renasant Convention Center—an honor typically reserved for professional artists.
Lakeland Prep will be the only school system participating in the project, which will feature a rotating Memphis-themed display showcasing artwork from students in grades five through twelve. A public reception celebrating the installation is expected to take place later this year, likely in August or September.
School leaders say the upcoming installation reflects the growing reputation of Lakeland Prep’s arts program and the exceptional talent of its student artists.
