The Shelby County Health Department is notifying the public of a potential measles exposure that occurred at the Aldi grocery store in Lakeland earlier this month.
According to the health department, individuals who were at Aldi, 9970 U.S. Highway 64, Lakeland, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. may have been exposed to the highly contagious measles virus. Another exposure event was Thursday, July 9, 2026, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Hobby Lobby, 7986 Highway 64, in Bartlett.
Anyone who was at the store during that time is encouraged to contact their healthcare provider as soon as possible. The Shelby County Health Department also asks potentially exposed individuals to call 901-222-9243 for additional guidance.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Early symptoms often include a high fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes, followed by a rash that typically begins on the face before spreading to the rest of the body.
