Daily COVID report for 6.29.20 – NBS Data upload issue

From Joan Carr, public information officer for the Shelby County Health Department (SCHD):

The number of Shelby County cases, number tested, number of recovered, and testing positivity rates could not be updated today due to a data upload issue with the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NBS).

According to a Tennessee Department of Health news release issued yesterday, “Due to the ongoing backlog and this unplanned shutdown, a limited number of COVID-19 test results were imported into NBS in the last 24 hours. TDH will not release updated COVID-19 numbers today since our data are incomplete. This will also affect our metropolitan health department partners and their data updates tomorrow.” For that reason, the case counts and positivity rate charts are the most recent data available, from June 27, 2020.

Data that has been updated in this report includes COVID-19 case counts from Desoto County (1,224) and Crittenden County (731); nursing home cluster data (69); total number recovered (6,393); numbers of investigations and contacts and contacts currently under quarantine; and health department hotline call data.

Investigations and Contacts as of 6/28/20

Closed Investigations  6,552

Contacts Identified  12,486
Contacts Currently in Quarantine  5,133

The Health Department’s hotline number is 833-943-1658 and is answered daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  After-hours calls are returned on the next business day.  Total calls received since the line was activated March 12th:  6,866; total calls yesterday: 15.
