Your Candidates, Your Vote – 2018 Lakeland Election

Election time is approaching in Lakeland, and traditionally, Lakeland Currents (LC) asks questions of each candidate running for office and publishes the responses, along with biographical information provided by each candidate.

This year will be no different with 12 candidates seeking 6 positions in the Nov. 6 election which also has positions open for state and federal offices.  The position of Lakeland mayor is open, along with two commissioner slots.  There are three openings on the Lakeland School Board.

The qualifying deadline for the election was noon yesterday (8.16.18) and the withdrawal deadline is noon Thursday (8.23.18).

A new feature offered by LC will be videos of each candidate answering four questions submitted to candidates by the news website staff.  These videos, filmed by Lakeland Currents at the Lakeland Senior Center, will be published on the LC website along with the written responses of the candidates.

Publication date on the LC website is scheduled for Oct. 9.  Readers will have the opportunity to read biographies of each candidate along with perusing and viewing candidates’ responses to four questions provided by LC.  The material will be published as submitted by the candidates, with no editing.

Election Day hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with early voting Oct. 17-Nov. 1.
