It was a sultry August night, but the humid temps didn’t keep hundreds away from The LAMP and the Nick Black Band last night (8.25.18) at the 65-acre IH Park, 423 Canada Rd.
Sponsored by the City of Lakeland Parks and Recreation Department, the family–friendly event is free with parking next to the venue or across the street at First Baptist Church.
Children, puppy dogs and grown-ups spent the evening playing, visiting, eating and dancing to the music at the outdoor venue.
Candidates seeking office in Lakeland’s Nov. 6 election were meeting and greeting, including Mayoral candidate Mike Cunningham; Board of Commissioner candidates Jeremy Burnett, Richard Gonzales and Michael Green; and Lakeland School Board (LSB) candidates Kevin Floyd and Laura Harrison, both current LSB members.
Wendi Haley, Lakeland recreation program supervisor, and Nancy Koch, chair of the Parks and Recreation Board, managed the City-run snack bar on the deck outside the IH Clubhouse with sandwiches, snacks, soft drinks and water. Proceeds from the concessions benefit the Department.
Food truck was Memphis Mojo Café and for children there was a free inflatable, balloon magic and face painting.
