Two juveniles from a youth detention facility located in Bartlett ran away from the facility last night (10.10.19) and have been captured in Lakeland, according to Wesley Wright, Lakeland commissioner who was following the law enforcement chase through the City.

Commissioner Wright said the two juveniles were captured in the new construction area of Herons Ridge neighborhood.  Vehicles from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Shelby County Fire Department were on scene, according to Commissioner Wright.

Lt. Jeremy Springer with the Bartlett Police Department confirmed the juveniles escaped.  “Two more juveniles ran away last night and have been spotted in Lakeland,” according to Lt. Springer.

John Morris, public information officer for the SCSO, confirmed the juveniles were detained.

He said this incident is unrelated to a previous instance of runaways from Varangon Academy at 3030 Brunswick Road in Bartlett.  He said of the four who ran away from the facility Sept. 30th, two are still at large.

Last month four runaways escaped the facility, with one captured and one juvenile returned to the facility on his own, according to Lt. Springer.
