Two students from Lakeland who are twins are co-salutatorians, graduating from CBHS (Christian Brothers High School) this Saturday (5.12.18).
Matthew and Noah Hubbard, sons of Neil and Libby Hubbard of Lakeland, are two of three co-salutatorians who tied with the second highest grade point average at CBHS, said Mr. Hubbard.
The graduation ceremony will be at Hope Presbyterian Church.
Both young men attended Lakeland Elementary and Arlington Middle Schools before enrolling in CBHS, said Mr. Hubbard. The family has lived in Lakeland since 2000, a month before their twin sons were born.
Matthew will be attending the University of Tennessee – Knoxville in the fall majoring in mathematics. Noah will be attending the University of Mississippi majoring in international studies and Spanish.
A National Merit Finalist, Matthew has been an active member of the CBHS Key Club, Model United Nations, Youth in Government, Honors Band and Knowledge Bowl. A four-year member of the pep band, historic band and honors band, Matthew was selected section leader. He also was elected captain of the CBHS Knowledge Bowl Team last year. He is also an AP scholar who earned a 35 on the ACT.
Noah, a National Merit Commended student, is the recipient of many awards including: Academic Excellence Award in AP European History, United States History and World History; Certificado de Exelencia – Spanish Language; Bronze Medal – National Spanish Exam and Silver Medal – National Spanish Exam; Outstanding Delegate Award – Model United Nations; Tennessee Band Masters Association Award of Excellence; Washington and Lee University Book Award; and West Tennessee All West Honors Band.
