All lanes are cleared, according to Lt. Cary Hopkins, Memphis Division of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
There has been a serious traffic accident on I-40 with three people transported to the hospital, one is critical, according to Earl Farrell, public information officer for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
The westbound lanes of I-40 just east of exit 20, Canada Road, are blocked following the crash involving a Memphis Police Department car and several other vehicles, according to Mr. Farrell.
He said there are three cars and a pickup truck involved in the crash. One car is still upside down. The police officer is ok, according to Mr. Farrell.
There is one lane open each direction but, “This will be tied up for a while,” said Mr. Farrell.
