Traffic accident injures one today, impacts power to almost 1,400 people in Lakeland area

A traffic accident today (2.10.19) involving a vehicle and a utility pole has sent one person to the hospital in non-critical condition and caused power outages to about 1,400 MLGW customers.

Lt. Anthony Buckner with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said the accident happened on Canada Road near the Lakeland First Baptist Church, 4500 Canada Road at 12:16 p.m.

“One person, a female, has been transported to St. Francis Hospital Bartlett in non-critical condition,” he said.

Canada Road was blocked because of the accident and to allow MLGW crews to repair the pole.  The electric outage summary map for MLGW indicates power is to be restored about 4 p.m.

Via posts on social media, neigborhoods impacted included Lakeland Estates, Arlington Road, Brunswick Farms, Creekside Manor, Winstead Farms, Woodbridge, Evergreen Hills, Lakeland Heights and The Grove.
