A “Stop Work Order” was issued today (1.24.20) by City of Lakeland Code Enforcement at The Lake District development at I-40 and Canada Road.

It is in effect until Yehuda Netanel, property owner and developer, can seed or flocculate the ponds on the property, according to Commissioner Wesley Wright.

Mr. Netanel is aware of the Stop Order, said Commissioner Wright, and is expected to remedy the situation today or tomorrow. Then the site will be released by Lakeland.  The sign was placed at the entrance so contractors coming to work would see the order.

The requirement comes from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation,

Phase 1 of the $400 million, 160-acre mixed-use community is to be open in fall 2020 in time for holiday shopping.   Mr. Netanel announced this week there is to be an official groundbreaking ceremony early next month to start the vertical work on the development.
