The Lake District (TLD) was among a number of businesses featured during the “Community After Hours with KWAM Radio” live yesterday (5.24.18) at the Delta Blues Winery in Lakeland.
Other Lakeland Chamber of Commerce businesses, community leaders and local governmental officials were interviewed by Earle Farrell this week on his radio show and at the Winery yesterday. The event was open to the community.
Maggie Gallagher, director of development for TLD, spoke to Earle Farrell during his drive-time talk show on AM990/Fm107.9 about the upscale 160+ acre mixed-use community to be built at I-40 and Canada Road.
The live radio broadcast was the culmination of four days spotlighting Lakeland on Mr. Farrell’s show.
Wil Ashworth, president of the Lakeland Chamber, spoke of the value of the radio show.
“The recent work of the Lakeland Chamber was able to provide a spotlight of the City with the support of the local radio station KWAM. There were several in-studio interviews that were able to bring attention to the City regarding our history, educational system, community events, future development and much more. The publicity of the City has brought more attention to what is happening with development, and we are seeing more attendance to our monthly luncheons and requests for information from other local businesses.
“We were also able to highlight some of Chamber members at the remote broadcast from the Delta Blues Winery may 24.. We feel like this is bringing more value to our Chamber members as we continue to find ways to showcase their businesses. Our plan is to continue to find opportunities like this that help our City and our Chamber”
During her interview, Ms. Gallagher announced the residential team for the urban village. It includes the exclusive real estate agent for the project, Realtor Billy Rodgers with Crye-Leike and a Lakeland resident; Keith Allen, principal with Walker Collinsworth LLC. as the exclusive builder; and LRK (Looney Ricks Kiss) continuing as architect with TLD and now for its collection of homes.
Ms. Gallagher spoke highly of all three men and businesses and said they are all aligned with the vision of TLD.
She said the homes will have open floor plans, kitchens for chefs and wonderful outdoor spaces and will start in the high 300s. She said the project continues to receive numerous inquiries for living at TLD. “I don’t even count anymore,” she said. The project is to have 270 single family homes and 396 apartments over retail, she said.
Two restaurants are to be announced soon for the development including an Asian restaurant which will have 5,000 square feet, she said.
Site preparation is underway now, with stone crushing and then dirt moving likely in July. Yehuda Netanel, developer with Gilad Development Inc. is expected to close on the property with Belz Investco, CP in June. The Lakeland Municipal Planning Commission/Design Review Commission last week approved a land disturbance permit for TLD with the condition that the property be acquired prior to issuance of the permit. Land disturbance includes clearing and mass grading of about 99 acres and removal of pre-existing infrastructure.
Ms Gallagher expects the dirt moving to take 8-10 months, depending on the weather. She added that vertical should be out of the ground in mid-2019.
