Megan Tancrell, senior regional development director, ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, said tickets are $100 each and only 14,500 tickets will be sold.

The Giveaway will be live June 23rd on WMC Action News 5, a sponsor of the Home.

The home at 5046 Adagio Lane in Winstead Farms off U.S. Highway 70 was open tonight (5.16.19) for a VIP Sneak Peak before weekend tours begin.

Greg Bridgers, president of Southern Serenity Homes, said the fund raising campaign crossed the 10,000 mark today in ticket sales. He said he expects the balance of tickets to sell in the next two weeks.  He categorized the home as incredible in an incredible community.  He noted the rainy winter and spring plagued home construction but said, “God always smiles on us.”

St. Jude patient and cancer survivor Jaxon Hindman cut the ribbon tonight at the ceremony.  He is a junior at Arlington High School (AHS) and lives in Lakeland with his parents, Jeremy and Cresta Hindman and his brothers Mason, 15-years-old, who attends AHS, and his 12-year-old brother Dawson who attends Lakeland Middle Preparatory School.

Jaxon said he was diagnosed in March 2014 with a brain tumor and endured four rounds of chemotherapy and seven weeks of intense radiation.  “I have been in remission almost five years this past March,” he said.  “If it wasn’t for St. Jude, I would not be standing here today.”

Addressing guests tonight was Dr. Susan Aguillard, ALSAC/St. Jude Board member. She said ticket sales this year for the home in Lakeland have sold faster than any previous year. She acknowledged the City of Lakeland as a sponsor with a donation of $10,000.

Doug Swink with Renaissance Realty, another sponsor, was introduced, along with Lakeland City officials on hand including Mayor Mike Cunningham and Commissioners Richard Gonzales Jr. and Wesley Wright.  Representing the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce were Brittney Buchanan and Kevin Bailey. Mayor Cunningham said he would love to have a sell-out of tickets and added he was proud the City of Lakeland was the City of choice for the Dream Home.

Proceeds from ticket sales for the 2019 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway will help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital continue to lead the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases, said Mrs. Tancrell.

For more than 28 years, the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway has become one of the largest single-event fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital nationwide. This is the 20th anniversary of the program launch in Memphis,

To date, more than 500 houses have been awarded, and the program has raised more than $420 million for St. Jude. Because a majority of St. Jude funding comes from individual contributors through programs such as this, St. Jude has the freedom to focus on what matters most – saving kids regardless of their financial situation.
