There will be a special meeting of the Beer Board and public hearing at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow (3.22.18) at City Hall.
The hearing, discussion and possible action will be on a resolution to revoke the off premises beer permit for owners Nizar Lalani and Anis Kapadia/SNA Properties which is the Mobil gas station at 3665 Canada Road.

The gas station owners have been before the Beer Board, Board of Commissioners and Design Review Commission numerous times for code violations. The most recent was Feb. 8 for a possible suspension or revocation of their beer permit because of “tree toping” and another code violation. They were cited for their exterior lighting which is not in compliance with City code. And tree-topping is not permitted by City code.
Instead of suspending or revoking their license along with a fine, the men were told to remove the trees immediately. In addition, they were given the following timeline:
- Stone work on the exterior columns was to be started immediately.
- A landscaping plan was to be sent to the Design Review Commission Feb. 15.
- A lighting plan to the MPC Mar. 15
- Lights installed Apr. 15
- If deadlines are not met, the Beer Board was to meet again to consider action on the beer permit.
Following the Beer Board the BOC (Board of Commissioners) will have a called meeting at 4:45 p.m. Link to agenda: https://tn-lakeland.civicplus.com/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/757
Earlier this week the meeting was to be at 5:30 p.m. to discuss and possibly take action on one item. Because of the Beer Board meeting, the BOC special has been moved to an earlier time.
In addition to the original resolution dealing with a possible relocation of City Hall, other topics will be the tree ordinance, recent code violations and Gillespie Cemetery on Seed Tick Road.
