There will be a special election in Lakeland next month to replace Commissioner Michele Dial who resigned March 9 because of family health issues.
Three candidates qualified to run for that one seat:
- Maurice Denbow
- Billy Rodgers
- Wesley Wright
The election date is May 25 but early voting begins May 5 and runs through May 20. Daily totals of early voters are to be posted to the Lakeland Currents website.

It is the custom of Lakeland Currents to ask questions of all candidates and publish their responses, unedited.
The four questions:
- What is your vision for Lakeland over the next three years?
- What is the major issue for Lakeland now and how do you solve it?
- Why are you the person needed to guide the City’s future?
- Describe your involvement in the Lakeland community.
