Three LMPS Choir students attended UM Camp, stayed in dorm

Three LMPS Choir students experienced a bit of college life last week when they attended the University of Memphis Summer Choir Camp and stayed in campus dorms.

Tonya Miller, choir director at LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School), said Toby Harrell and Samantha Pruitt, both seventh graders, and Conner Smith, eighth grader, participated in the one-week camp June 11-16 for middle and high school students.

The culmination of camp was a concert Saturday morning (6.16.18)

“They all stayed on campus in the dorms overnight all week,” said Mrs. Miller.   “They loved getting to experience college life too.  I visited them for three out of the five days throughout the day, observing and participating.  I also attended their concert on Saturday morning.”

Mrs. Miller said there was a talent show with Toby doing a magic show and Conner singing.  “Both of our students auditioned and were awarded solos for the concert. The gospel song that had Toby’s and Conner’s solos was called “Oh, Happy Day.”    I was very proud of them.”
