The IH Park was filled with lively children and relaxed grown-ups for the third LAMP concert last night (7.28.18) sponsored by the City of Lakeland.
There were puppy dogs with owners, cell phone photos of friends, Corvettes on display in the parking lot, a game of cards, children bouncing, a variety of balloon creations and a sprinkling of political candidates.
Ghost Town Blues Band played for the free, family-friendly event which is part of the summer concert series at the 65-acre Park at 4523 Canada Road overlooking a 5-acre lake.
To begin the concert, the blues band marched through the crowd to the stage, playing “When The Saints Go Marching in.”
Kevin Rooney, director of Parks and Rec, and Wendi Haley, recreation program supervisor, managed the snack park on the deck outside the IH Clubhouse with sandwiches, snacks, soft drinks and water. Proceeds from the concessions benefits the Department.
The food truck was Central BBQ and there were free activities for children including an inflatable, face painting and balloon magic.
