Students presented The Jungle Book today (6.28.19) culminating a week of Drama Camp at LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) Monday through Friday on campus.
Directed by LMPS teachers Alison Garland and Mandy Christopher, the first-ever camp gave all 29 participants a chance to participate in the show. It was open to rising fifth through ninth graders. Robin Smith, a music teacher at LES (Lakeland Elementary School), was in charge of choreography and music.
The final day of camp in the LMPS Cafetorium closed with a free performance open to the public.
Mrs. Garland said, “Students auditioned and received roles on Monday. Students learned their lines, blocking, and choreography all in a week! Students have multiple roles and they created their own masks for their costumes.”
She said there were three songs in the show: Caroline Adams, Baloo 1, and Britton Hale, Mowgli 2, sang Bare Necessities. Jackson Bush, as King Louie, sang I Wanna Be Like You. And the rest of the cast sang The Elephant March.
Homegrown impressions provided the T-shirts, she said.
