Republic Services has provided another update this evening (1.16.18) via Jim Atkinson, Lakeland city manager.
On Wednesday, 1/17/18, Republic will have extra trucks in the city to catch up on last week’s recycling and this week’s trash. They will delay their start time until 11:00 to allow additional melting before starting.
- Two trucks will be running last Friday’s recycling route, (week B).
- Threetrucks will be running Monday’s trash route.
- There is a possibility that they could get started on Tuesday’s trash route once Monday’s route is complete. Republic recommends that Tuesday route residents put out their trash on Wednesday just in case.
Regarding additional trash days this week and recycling, Mr. Atkinson said, “It will depend on how it goes tomorrow.”
Trash and recycling have been delayed in the City since snow first fell in Lakeland Friday (1.12.18). Pickups were delayed by a Monday holiday, further pushing the schedule behind. And alas, more snow fell today (1.16.18), shutting down routes the entire day.
