A suspect fleeing Fayette County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies this morning (11.22.18) crashed a stolen car and rolled several times before landing in the turn lane in front of Lakeland businesses on U. S. Highway 64.
The suspect shot a Fayette County deputy who was responding to a robbery in Oakland. The suspect was apprehended at the crash scene and then taken to a hospital
Traffic on Highway 64 in Lakeland was restricted to one lane in each direction as officers conducted their investigation.
The officer was transported to a local hospital in non-critical condition.
