Several years ago, Lakeland student Carsten Wennekamp wanted to buy his teacher some supplies before the start of the school year.
Fast forward four years and the LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) 5th grader expanded the project to ALL the teachers at his former school, LES (Lakeland Elementary School), showering them with supplies and donuts.
Veronica Wennekamp said she helped her son raise $752 through social media, a trivia night and a charitable fund she runs, Hallelujah Helen Memorial Fund.
Friday morning (8.2.19) all the LES teachers received a bag with such items as colored copy paper, dry erase markers, tote bags and sticky notes, said Mrs. Wennekamp. They were delivered to the school library where the teachers were having a training session.
Along with the supplies came five dozen donuts, donated by Howard’s Donuts in Lakeland.
