Lakeland Parks and Recreation Supervisor, Evan Johnson, says there is still time left to register your child for Lakeland youth football this fall.
While practices have already started this past week, the deadline to register has been extended until Friday, July 29th.
“We have an 8U team and a 10U team this year,” Mr. Johnosn said. “Both will play in the Municipal Football League,” he said. The municipal league usually consist of other teams from Arlington and Collierville as an example.
This year the teams will practice at the new city athletic complex which is located at 9661 Memphis-Arlington Road.
The Lakeland Parks and Recreation department stresses to all parents safety is considered first. They go to extra lengths by investing in safety features including Guardian helmet covers to protect against head injury as well as using “tackle wheels” to practice tackling. Tackle wheels limit how often players do live tackling on each other. Both are considered best practices for youth football safety.
This will be the eighth year of Lakeland Lion Youth Football.
