Megan Tancrell, senior regional development director at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – ALSAC, spoke at the monthly Chamber luncheon today (2.27.19) at Stonebridge Golf Club.

“I’m really excited to have the Dream Home in Lakeland this year,” said Mrs. Tancrell. She noted it costs $2.8 million a day to run St. Jude and much of the funds come from donors and communities.  She said the average donation is $43.

The four bedroom/four bath home is about 3,400 square feet and valued at $475,000. The foyer will have handcrafted iron railings with hardwoods throughout the house, she said. The house will include a spacious owner’s retreat and an open floor plan kitchen and great room.  Southern Serenity Homes is building the home for the 12th year.

Tickets to win the Dream home cost $100 each and only 14,500 will be sold, said Mrs. Tancrell.  “Tickets will be available the end of March by calling 800-224-6681 or visiting www.dreamhome.org ,” said Mrs. Tancrell.  The website will not be “live” until later in March, said Mrs. Tancrell.

The Home will be open for viewing, at no cost, weekends, starting May 18th and running through June 16th:  9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

The Giveaway will be live June 23rd on WMC Action News 5, a sponsor of the Home.

There are incentives to reserve your entry ticket early, said Mrs. Tancrell.  “Reserve by March 29th to enter to win a VIP Memphis Grizzlies Suite,” she said.  There is an Early Bird Prize for those registering by April 19th.  It includes a Peabody weekend getaway, Memphis Tigers Basketball season tickets and a two-hour flight simulator session.

If you reserve by June 7th, said Mrs. Tancrell, you can enter to win a bonus prize of a 2019 Honda Civic LX or 2019 Nissan Sentra S.

Additionally, every $100 ticket offers the opportunity to win the house and/or a secondary prize valued at $1,000 like an 18kt yellow gold diamond bangle bracelet, movie tickets for a year or a $1,000 Visa gift card.

For those visiting the home, patrons can register free to win a $10,000 furniture shopping spree at Ashley Home Store or Stash Home.

All funds raised through the program help ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.

Mrs. Tancrell encouraged the community to volunteer for the project.

  • Work phone banks during the WMC sellathon
  • Help staff at the weekend open houses
  • Encourage family and friends to reserve tickets
