Slaw with that?  Tops Bar-B-Q expected to open in Lakeland

Mayor Wyatt Bunker announced today (10.24.18) that Tops Bar-B-Q will open its next location in the Memphis area.

The restaurant will fill the space at the Mobil gas station, 3665 Canada Road, which formerly housed McDonald’s.  That restaurant closed in September 2017 and moved to a new facility on U.S. Highway 64 in Lakeland.

Robert Lalani, one of the Mobil owners, said the restaurant has until Jan. 31 to get all the paperwork signed and sign a lease for the space.

He expects it to take 60-90 days for renovation with the restaurant opening perhaps in March.  He said the lease will be a three-to-five year option.

The Mayor said, “We are excited to report that Top’s Bar-B-Q has chosen to open their next location in Lakeland.

“They are a great hometown restaurant know for exceptional BBQ and burgers.  I encourage all Lakeland citizens to help “Move Lakeland Forward” by supporting this new business.”
